糖心传媒-Cascades Club Sports team places third at Pole Pedal Paddle

The six students' majors ranged from biology to business to exercise and sports science, but their singular focus guaranteed a third place finish in the Open Team Division of the U.S. Bank Pole Pedal Paddle, Bend's major annual sporting event, on Saturday, May 18.  

The students are all members of the club sports teams and were the university's first official student team entered in the PPP.   They completed the race in 2:17:37.

Kayla Schurton, and exercise and sports science student undertook the alpine ski run; Sierra Foster of Redmond, a biology major was the team's Nordic skier; business major Jack Vanderlinden took on the bike course; Anna Ballard of Bend, also a business major, ran the five-mile leg; biology student Christian Schuster of Bend under took the kayak portion of the race; and Nolan King, also of Bend and an exercise and sports science major completed the race with the sprint.

Foster and Schuster competed in the US Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association's national championships in Sun Valley, Idaho earlier this year.
