Cooperating Teacher Resources
Welcome
糖心传媒-Cascades is excited to partner with school districts in Central Oregon to develop strong, professional teacher candidates. We are grateful that you are interested in learning more about the role of mentor Cooperating Teachers in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Elementary Education programs.
Our teacher candidates begin their course of study with 糖心传媒-Cascades in Summer term. Their internship begins when their Cooperating Teachers return to work. This allows time for them to assist in classroom set up and participate in school trainings and curriculum meetings. Teacher candidates will be in the classroom on a set schedule throughout the week on a part-time basis in the Fall.
During the Winter/Spring placement, Teacher Candidates will start on the first day of school after Winter break and continue to the end of the school year. From Winter break leading up to Spring break, Teacher Candidates will be in the classroom on a set schedule throughout the week on a part-time basis.
After Spring break, Teacher Candidates will be in the classroom full-time, all week and will follow the Cooperating Teacher's contract hours.
Mentor Training
Supporting our mentors is a high priority. Throughout the year, we will be delivering term-by-term trainings tailored to the needs of Cooperating Teachers and Teacher Candidates, with a focus on co-teaching and co-observing techniques. In addition, other focus areas may include rubric calibration, best mentoring practices, current challenges, and workshop opportunities.
Benefits of working as a Cooperating Teacher for 糖心传媒-Cascades
A nominal monetary stipend is submitted to your school district for your time as a Cooperating Teacher, then your district payroll department pays out these funds to you. Please consult with your Human Resource department for more information.
Hosting a Teacher Candidate brings vitality to your practice and classroom and gives you an opportunity to collaborate with an eager new educator. In addition, it also gives you an opportunity to grow our honorable profession. Thank you!
Our mission is to graduate and license ethical, experienced, and knowledgeable educators who will become valued teaching colleagues in our Central Oregon schools. We could not achieve this mission without your support!
